Bullying

I'm looking forward to a week off from the normal routine as the kids are approaching their half-term holiday.

I am now selling my Jewellery online exclusively through MISI so if you can spare five minutes please take a look at my shop and tell me what you think. It's always nice to have some feedback!

I've just been playing with some Chain Maille and hopefully will get a chance to finish a bracelet today. My youngest boys (aged 4 - yes Twins!) are quite often sitting with me whilst I am making things. They love to be creative too and have their own stash of beads to play with!

Stepping away from the Jewellery for a moment I would like to draw your attention to an important cause. As the mother of a child who has been bullied I would like to draw your attention to the wonderful work of Bullying UK - the UK's leading anti-bullying charity and safety net for children and families. It's not just children who get bullied - people young or old at home or in the workplace can suffer too. It's great to know there is an organization that can help with advice and support.

This blog post is part of Zemanta's "Blogging For a Cause" campaign to raise awareness and funds for worthy causes that bloggers care about.

  1. Your Misi shop looks great. You've got some lovely things. Pleased that you are highlighting the anti bullying charity. I don't have kids and I wasn't bullied myself but my husband was bullied at School and it is still something that affects him even now from time to time. It needs to be stopped and those that have been bullied need support.

  2. Thanks for raising awareness of this. I was bullied for what felt like the whole time I was at school. I'm very happy now, but I still have flashbacks & I think it will affect me for the rest of my life. When we had children we decided that if we loved them we wouldn't send them to state school, I was so scared they'd end up being bullied too. So we scrimp & save & they all go to a small independent school. If we hadn't the money we'd home educate.

I'm so sorry you have a child who has been bullied, hope you were able to help & I'm glad you found out about it - I never told my parents.

On the positive side - good looking shop!!!!

    Best wishes

    Sarah xx

  3. Love your shop!
It's great you are raising awareness about bullying, I too am a mom of a child who has been bullied. We need to keep working on awareness, because even here in the States it took me being very persistant to get the school to act. I would have loved having information and support.

  4. great to see some people raising awareness about bullying.
I was bullied at school and didn't tell anyone, I just felt unable to.

As others have said it can affect you even in adulthood, on subconscious levels you are still reacting to these experiences.
My loving thoughts go to anyone who has been or is being bullied!

Great shop too by he way, really lovely!

  5. I'm a Brownie Leader and Girl Guiding will be 100 yrs old this year. They have launched a challenge called Changing the World. All units have the change to take part and our unit is taking the Friendship pledge "Don't be a bully.. be a friend". It is supported by kidscape and helps to show children the effects of bully and how to say no to them and raise childrens self esteem and give them confidence. Kidscape also offer help to the parents of bullied children. Hopefully the next generation will understand that bullying isn't right and decide on friendship instead.
