I never realised that when I shrank my woollens by accident (everytime!) what I was actually doing was 'felting' them! Michele of By Your Side has a really great Tutorial on her blog all about felting a knitted bag. It's amazing to see how much the bag shrinks! Take a look at her pics to find out!
I am really loving the work of Textile Artist Aileen Clark who is based in Scotland. She makes the most beautiful pieces in a rich array of colours. I bought this card from her but not sure I can part with it!
Aileen has lots of beautiful cards in her Folksy Shop AileenClarkeCrafts but also has framed pieces of Textile Art.
I love this one in particular
To find out more about Aileen Clarke Crafts please visit her blogspot. I am particularly excited about some Pendants Aileen is experimenting with - hope she goes with a brooch option too!
The only thing I got creative with today was Cake making for my Childrens' school cake sale. Needless to say not all the cakes have made the final count!
Thank you so much, I am honored to be mentioned on your blog!! Just too bad you are so far away, those cupcakes look too yummy!! I miss the days of the bake sales, we here in the States, at least Oregon, can't have home baked goodies at the schools anymore.:( All of the treats have to be store bought, which kind of defeats the purpose!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great blog! Thank you so much for featuring my work! I'm going to add you to my list of inspirations on my own blog. I could fair go one of those cakes right now. I have been making ALL day. The last felt bracelet is about to be strung and that is it. No more for today : )
ReplyDeleteIt is amazing how much they strink and how much wool you need to use for one tiny bag ! lol.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments Ladies.
ReplyDeleteMichele and Aileen - Glad you are pleased! Pleased to see you have made a Brooch Aileen!
The cakes were very nice! Michele, that's a shame that you have to have store bought cakes! The homemade ones are always nicer!
Zoe - Yes I've seen the size of some of my shrunk sweaters - they'd fit a Barbie Doll!
Everything is fabulous! I love your blog! Thanks so much for visiting mine!
ReplyDeleteI used to felt bags a few years ago. Yes definately addictive.
ReplyDeleteAnd. Wow, those cakes look amazing.
I left you a surprise on my blog!
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the lovely comments!
ReplyDeleteMichele - thank you for my surprise!
I think of all the woollens I have "ruined" and thrown out because of shinking in the washer - when I could have been making a lovely handmade bag!
ReplyDeleteCheers
